MANCHESTER City manager Roberto Mancini denies he's feeling the strain, following reports a number of his squad aren't happy with the Italian's training methods. HEAD MASTER! >> FULL REPORT P20&21 STOKE central defender Ryan Shawcross is the surprise inclusion in Fabio Capello's England squad for the friendly against Egypt, with both Rio Ferdinand and Gary Cahill ruled out with injury. You'll never be my captain again HE MAY have started on the bench but it was almost inevitable Wayne Rooney would make a telling contribution to the Carling Cup final. He did just that, scoring the decisive goal as Manchester United came from behind to beat Aston Villa 2-1 at Wembley. After Michael Owen had cancelled out James Milner's early penalty, Rooney headed home Antonio Valencia's cross 16 minutes from time. Remarkably, it was the England star's eighth headed goal in his last nine appearances and he also headed against the base of the upright. >> PAGE 4 >> PAGE 3 >> PAGE 6 JOHN Terry's turbulent season took a dramatic turn for the worse with the Chelsea skipper learning that he will never regain the England captaincy under Fabio Capello. Terry had expressed the hope that he might regain the captaincy once the scandal over his affair with the ex-lover of for mer Blues team-mate Wayne Bridge had died down but in the build-up to England's friendly against Egypt, Capello ruled out such a move. "From here to the World Cup he will not be England captain," the Italian said. "If I will be the England manager after that, then I think no." Capello added that Terry had failed in his duty to set an "example" for "the young, for the children, the fans". However, he reiterated the player's leadership credentials. What he did was not good. I told him this and he understood," Capello said. "But I took the decision only because of what happened with Wayne Bridge, nothing else. I didn't ever consider taking John Terry out of the squad, just as I didn't decide to take Wayne Bridge out. "And I don't believe the other players will have lost respect for him because they know his leadership qualities." The English fascination with the armband baffles Capello, who said: "In Spain or Italy, the captain is the oldest player or the one with the most caps. Here it is different. You look at the captain in a different way. "To me, being a leader is more important than being the captain. "John Terry is a leader. I have asked him to be the same. He will be the same. He will be a leader without wearing the armband."
